Welcome to the website for the third annual Atlanta Irish
Music Competition to takes place in Atlanta,
Georgia! The 2008 Atlanta Irish Music Competition will feature adjudicators and performers: Eliot Grasso, uilleann pipes, Kate Dowling, flute; Jode Dowling, fiddle and will be held February 2, 2008 at Alpharetta High School in the North Metro community of Alpharetta, GA. The
competition is open to the public and public viewing is encouraged. Adult admission is $5 with $5 discount to IAF members; kids under 18 free. This year’s competition will feature solo and
group competitions on traditional Irish instruments and song.

The Irish Arts Foundation of Atlanta to promote and encourage the growth of

FOR SOLO COMPETITIONS
Students can compete in any of the following instruments:
- Fiddle
- Flute
- Whistle
- Uilleann
Pipes
- Concertina
- Piano Melody
- Bodhrán
- Accordion
(piano, button or melodeon)
- Plucked
Strings: banjo, mandolin, guitar, bouzouki, harp
- Irish
War Pipes (Scottish Highland Pipes)
- Miscellaneous
instruments: piano, cello, viola, etc.
- Song:
Irish or English
Age Categories: Child (7-11yrs), Junior (12-15), Novice
(16-18), Adult (19+)

GROUP MUSIC
COMPETITION
- Duets
and Trios: Any instrument combination. All members must be in the same age
category.
- Small
Ensemble: Minimum of 4 musicians and maximum of 20 members. Any instrument
combination. Members can be in two age categories, except for child and
adult age groups. May include accompaniment.
- Ceili
Band: Minimum of 5 members and maximum of 10. Must included snare drum and piano. Any
instrument combination. Members can
be in two age categories.
- Pipe
Bands: Minimum 5 members. Must play two Marches and one Hornpipe.
